Bilingualism
Children who grow up in bilingual families have an advantage which offers them lifelong benefits - assuming that the child is encouraged to learn both languages in an equally serious manner. Our school has adopted this family model of bilingualism and has extended it beyond the spoken word to the written language and all the subjects of the school curriculum.
From the very beginning the students are totally immersed in the language in which the subject matter is being taught as each teacher teaches exclusively in his/her mother tongue English oder German. In this way both languages become sensory and emotive languages. What is initially learnt as a foreign language, becomes a second language. This is true not only in the primary classes but also in kindergarten. We take advantage of the student's natural aptitude for language in this age group.
